Quartz

One of the most common and versatile of crystals, clear quartz is also known as crystal quartz or rock crystal.  If you only have one crystal in your collection, this really is the one to have.

Quartz crystals have piezoelectric properties, meaning if you vigorously rub two pieces of quartz together you may see flashes of yellowy/green light which is piezo-electricty.  Hence, the quartz clock, crystal radios, microphones and radio transmitters are everyday devices which use quartz crystal energy.

Cultures from all over the world, have used clear quartz for thousands of years.  Crystals balls, make from clear quartz, were said to have magical properties.

Clear quartz encompasses all of the spectrum of colours so is ideal for any chakra but especially the crown chakra.  It plays an important part in crystal grids also, due to its amplification properties.  Quartz absorbs EMF fields so can provide protection against background radiation near televisions, computers, wireless telephones etc… Used in meditation, quartz filters out distractions/

On a healing level, Quartz can be used for any condition as it stimulates the immune system and brings the body into balance.

Lapis Lazuli

Wow, I’ve just found my Lapis Lazuli pendulum so I too wanted to learn a little more about this beautiful blue stone.  Lapis Lazuli is a beautiful blue colour flecked with gold (pyrite).  The name Lapis Lazuli is Latin for ‘blue stone’.

Historically, Lapis has been used in jewellery as far back as 3100BC and the golden sarcophagus of King Tutankhamen is inlaid with Lapis.

Lapis opens the third eye chakra, stimulates enlightenment and enhances dream work and psychic abilities.  According to Judy Hall, Lapis possesses enormous serenity (who doesn’t need some of that) and quickly releases stress, bringing deep peace.  Reading articles and books about Lapis Lazuli the word ‘self’ is constantly mentioned so this is a fantastic crystal for self-knowledge, self expression and honesty.

Please don’t create a gem essence directly with Lapis Lazuli as the toxic pyrite might leech out into the water.  If you would like to know how to create an in-direct gem essence, please contact me below.

I’m currently sleeping with my Lapis pendulum in my pillow case (after cleansing of course) so I can hopefully build a bond with the pendulum and I’ll let you know how it’s affecting me.  I’ll update my crystal journal and share my experiences with you.

As always, thanks for reading and any questions or comments, I’d love to hear from you below.

Rose Quartz

Rose quartz is another easily recognised and readily available crystal. It beautiful pink colour symbolises pure love and peace.

According to Greek legend, the Greek God Eros felt pity for humans when he saw the pain and loneliness caused by anger, so he created Rose Quartz in the hope that its beautiful color and gentle energy would arouse love and desire among people.

Rose quartz is essential for any journey associated with love or peace. Remember, we need to love ourself before we can love another. If you anticipate a heated argument or situation, carrying a rose quartz crystal should help diffuse anger and promote peace.

Placing rose quartz next your bed whilst you sleep is meant to encourage true love. For people who have been unfortunate never to receive unconditional love, rose quartz is said to help heal the empty heart and allow the heart to receive love. For those who have been in a traumatic relationship, rose quartz is brilliant for helping with the emotional and spiritual wounds and therefore allowing the person to move on.
